Confectionery Geology

Mohs Scale Lollipop Set

Ten lollipops of allegedly increasing hardness, from talc-soft taffy to a number ten that has never been independently verified.

For: Youth Programs, Educators, Students

The confectionery geology program's flagship teaching aid: ten labeled lollipops representing the Mohs scale, each printed with its mineral namesake and real hardness facts. The Committee certifies the educational content but makes no warranty regarding lollipop number ten. Complies with the Confectionery Specimen Handling and Allergen Standard.

Pedagogical notes

Each lollipop is printed with its namesake mineral and that mineral's genuine properties, so the sugar delivers a real lesson: students who can recite "talc, gypsum, calcite…" because of a candy wrapper are students the program counts as wins. Number ten remains, in the committee's careful phrasing, aspirational.
